Summer Scholars Program

Summer Scholars Program

Introduced in 2014, the Summer Scholars program is designed to financially assist outstanding students ages 12 to High School Seniors.The Alabama Symphony Volunteer Council awards up to $6000 to outstanding music students ages twelve through senior in high school who have been accepted to a nationally recognized summer music festival such as Interlochen, Brevard, Tanglewood,etc.

To eligible an applicant must attend the Alabama School of Fines, be a member of the Alabama Symphony Youth Orchestra, or have participated in the Lois Pickard Music Scholarship and be an Alabama resident.

Applications must be received by April 17, 2017. 


2016 Scholarship Winners

Erin Acree, bassoon,  will attend Interlochen Arts Camp in Interlochen, MI

Savannah Howard, Pianist, will attend the International Institute for Young Musicians in Lawrence, KS

Benjamin Lane, violinist, will attend Brevard Music Center in Brevard, NC

Haeun Kim, violinist,  will attend The Aspen Music Festival in Aspen, CO.  

Caleb Edwards, double bass,  will attend The Eastern Music Festival in Greensboro, NC.

KeVon Johnson, saxophone, will attend Berklee College of Music in Boston,MA.
